Look out – your teens are cooking dinner tonight! This camp is all about preparing pull-out-the-stops dinner for the family. Days 1 and 2 will feature two complete dinner menus. Day 3 is our traditional “Iron Chef” competition; the students are divided into two teams, with each team preparing a real soup-to-nuts menu of their own devising based on secret ingredients. If you’re headed for college this fall, this course is for you! It’s not easy to figure out how to feed yourself once you’re in the middle of the mayhem. Dorm Cooking 101 serves a double purpose: you’ll learn basic techniques and recipes to sustain life in the dorm; and you’ll enhance your image. After all, everyone loves a good cook!

This workshop focuses on the preparation of a perfect and perfectly easy summer fruit tart. We begin with a sweet, crusty shell based on the Italian pasta frolla. Students will learn to make both a classic pastry cream and luscious lemon curd. And for the topping? We promise to scour the farmer’s market for the best fruit of the season. You’ll be surprised how elegant and easy it is to make something so luscious!

Our global gourmets will prepare three party menus featuring some of their favorite cuisines: a Tex-Mex celebration, some great Italian-American recipes, and a tour of Asia appetizer party.
NOTE: Substitutions/additions will be made for students with food allergies or other dietary restrictions. We want everyone to be able to eat what they make!
