Kids Cook: Spices
Tuesday, April 19th, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm; Cost: $55; Ages 8-11
There is a world of flavor beyond salt, pepper, and cinnamon, or just spicy-hot. Students will test their taste buds on spices from around the world in sweet and savory recipes that we think will surprise you. Kids, this is an opportunity to expand your culinary horizons!

Teens Cook: La Creperie
Wednesday, April 20th, 10 am to 1 pm; Cost $55; Ages 12+
Welcome to our French crepe bistro! Teens will learn to make the basic batter for these superb French pancakes and use it to prepare crepe variations both savory and sweet. It’s an impressive technique to master, plus you can make the ‘cakes ahead and focus on your fillings. Ooh-la-la!

Kids Cook: Ketchup, Mustard, Relish
Thursday, April 21st, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm; Cost $55; Ages 8-11
Enough with the bottled stuff! Learn to make all your favorite condiments from scratch: ketchup, mustard, and relish. You won’t believe how easy it is and how good they taste! Oh, and what shall we serve them on? Learn all about red snappers, half-smokes, and scrambled dawgs (hot dogs), as well as sloppers, sliders, and patty melts (hamburgers). And don’t forget the French fries!

“We love teaching young people; they’re energetic, curious, and creative. Of course, we relish the thought that we are working with the home cooks of the future,” says Chef/Director Lori Leinbach. “Learning through making and tasting is a terrific way to spend vacation week and make some new friends in the process.”

About Culinary Underground School for Home Cooks (CU)
Culinary Underground School for Home Cooks is committed to furthering the art and craft of home cooking through engaging and educational hands-on and demonstrations classes. Using the best seasonal ingredients, mastering techniques, minimizing prep, and maximizing flavor are the focus of our classes. We believe that good eating and breaking bread with others are two of life’s greatest pleasures, and are at the heart of everyday cooking for family and friends. We share with our students a growing concern of what is in our food and where it comes from. To that end, we support small, local, organic farms and dairies, seek out area restaurants whose chefs cook locally, and invite those chefs, farmers, and purveyors into the classroom to share their knowledge and ideas with our students. Located at 21 Turnpike Road/Route 9, Suite E, Southborough MA 01772, the school was founded in 2004 by Chef/Director Lori Leinbach, an experienced educator and personal chef. The staff of four culinary experts teaches children and adults in small classes of 8-12 persons, Monday through Friday, daytime and evenings; special classes and events are also held on weekends. CU students of all levels and interests come from as far as CT, NH, and RI, as well as from Central and MetroWest Massachusetts. Additionally, great tools students use in class can be purchased at the new, on-site Kitchen Corner store. To register, purchase gift certificates, or learn more about Culinary Underground School for Home Cooks, visit www.culinaryunderground.com or call 508 904 6589.
